Angel and Cat

Impression of the Painting.

The painting "Angel and Cat" is conceived by the artist symbolically. It is a dedication to the cat, to which an angel came, and a conversation takes place between them. The artist's cat, Murcellino, passed away shortly after, and he didn't touch the painting for a year and a half. Here is what he said over time:

Today is Catholic Easter, as an Orthodox, I'm not too interested, but... A year and a half ago, my Siberian Cat Murcellino passed away. For 17 years, he lay on the windowsill of my studio, listening to classical music and talking to me about art. Until the last second, I was with him. He is buried under a linden tree in front of my terrace, and for a year and a half, every day, I go out and talk to him. For a year and a half, I cannot reconcile myself with this loss. Yesterday, I took out a work that I couldn't touch for two years. After finishing work, I fell asleep, and Murcellino came to me for the whole night. In the morning, gulping valerian and shedding tears, I wrote this...

An angel descended from the sky and, introducing himself,
Cat Murcellino asked:
"How is it in heaven? Is it eternal summer there?
And in Semekhovo, is it cold? Haven't you caught a cold?,
Won't you freeze barefoot and dressed in a simple shirt?
Sit here with me; I'll warm you up.
I'm in fur. I'm warm. You are not superfluous to me.
And then, when the wings warm up, embracing me,
You will merge with me and fly to heaven with me...»
And under the canopy of creation sat two,
Bright Angel and Cat - two creatures of God,
Two souls whose warmth flowed into words
To a person who is also cold.
