Author's Intent.

In the linocut "Thirteenth Christmas," the author embedded the concept of finding freedom, regardless of what it meant for the owner and what consequences it carried. According to the author's intention, the linocut "Thirteenth Christmas" will bring the owner purification and liberation from stereotypes. Some will imbue it with meaning and become enslaved again, while others will simply find the wings of freedom. Such was the author's intent. All three prototypes from which the series was printed have been destroyed.

History of the Linocuts.

Over 20 years, a small number of "Thirteenth Christmas" linocuts have been gifted: to deserving individuals, some friends of the author, and some discerning strangers. There are 13 copies remaining, each signed with its number on the back in thin pencil. The "Thirteenth Christmas" linocuts were printed in 2003 as part of a series with two others: "Sixth House" (of which there are 14 remaining) and "Thirteenth Apostle" (15 remaining).

Limited Series.

The softness of the linoleum printing form is a drawback of linocut technique: even with slight pressure from a hand printing press, the linoleum slightly deforms. Therefore, large print runs in linocut are impossible. This drawback defined the limited series of linocuts "Thirteenth Christmas". Each linocut is unique because linoleum, unlike solid wood, is soft and malleable, making each impression unique. Additionally, handmade paper was used for each impression, with each sheet having an individual structure, color, composition, and thickness. Typography ink.
