History of the painting
The initial version of the portrait "By the Window" was completed by the artist in 2013. Another significant event of 2013 was the record-breaking sale at Christie's auction. Francis Bacon's triptych Three Studies of Lucian Freud sold for $142.4 million (including buyer's premium) to an undisclosed buyer at Christie's auction in New York, becoming the most expensive artwork ever sold at an auction. The 2013 sale also represents the highest price paid for a work by a British artist, surpassing Bacon's 1976 triptych, which sold for $86.3 million in May 2008.
First intention for the painting.
According to the artist Anatoli Gostev on his personal website, Gostev's Fine Art:
A portrait of a woman in the world of balance between good and evil, emphasized by light and shadow in the window. The woman knows this, she reflects on her own path in life, bypassing dogmas in her thoughts.

Changes made.
The painting "By the Window" was reworked by the artist a few weeks before his death due to personal reflection on his long-abandoned and hateful wife. In his final message, the artist removed the mirror of the soul - the eyes - from the painting, transforming the portrait of the once-woman into a portrait of a dead person. One of Anatoli Gostev's last messages.
Participation in exhibitions:
The painting "By the Window" participated in the ART Climate Change exhibition | 13.09 - 8.10.2021 Novum Investments in Switzerland, Basel.
Ownership:
The only original of the painting "By the Window" by Anatoli Gostev is in private ownership. The artist's copyright applies to the painting in terms of the eternal right of authorship of a unique work of art.
Sale of the Painting:
The painting is signed by the artist on both the front and back. The painting will go to the grave, to the eternal void, following the woman who destroyed the artist without a soul.
