Impression of the Painting.

The painting "Whose Goat?" is inspired by the composition. The subjects of the winter landscape composition are two women among the huts in a forgotten, God-forsaken place, and a lost goat, which becomes the subject of investigation in the artist's painting.

The entire composition should revolve in this winter round dance. From pitch-dark night, through a warmed house, to two old women with a lost goat.

- Anatoli Gostev

Creation of the Painting.

Completion of the Painting.

The painting was exhibited in the German gallery K Galerie im Maxforum München until an incident when it almost disappeared. When the painting miraculously returned to the artist in 2011, he began to rework it. The fate of the painting, like its characters, is phantasmagorical.

At the 3:39-minute mark of the video from the artist's studio, a fragment of the painting from 2021 is visible. In this state, it has remained. The painting has not participated in exhibitions anymore, as the artist painted it until 2021 and even verbally changed its name. In a sense, you can trace the development of the maestro's own vision of painting through it.
